Introducing: Myself. The person behind Investing Visuals

This is my story; who I am, what my life looks like and what got me to where I am today.

Several people have recently told me they're curious to learn more about who's actually behind the 'Investing Visuals' brand. So far, I've always been a little hesitant to share a lot about myself. I'm not the type of guy that loves to talk about himself to be honest.

But I do love building genuine connections with others, and that’s quite difficult when staying behind the ‘Investing Visuals’ brand.

I haven’t shared that much about myself because my thinking was always that it’s about the content, not the one making it. But over time, I realized they go hand in hand. Behind every visual, every write-up, there’s a person creating it, and that person is me: Jan, a 33-year-old guy living in a small village in the northern part of the Netherlands.

In this story, I share a lot about myself, my life and what got me to where I am today. I’ve decided to only publish it for subscribers because it’s the most personal article I’ve ever shared online, which I don’t feel comfortable putting fully out in the open. In time, I might remove the paywall, but for now it’s exclusive to those who support my content.

1 - My early life

I was born and raised in the northern part of the Netherlands, in the city of Groningen to be precise. It’s a city well known for its vibrant student culture, which I’ll get back to later on, because I was very much part of that as well ;)
