## What Alphabet (GOOGL) does

Alphabet is the parent company of Google and a range of other tech businesses.
Its core products include Google Search, YouTube, Google Maps, Gmail and Android, plus cloud services through Google Cloud.
These services make money mostly through advertising (showing targeted ads in search and on YouTube) and by selling cloud computing and business software.
In everyday terms, Alphabet builds many of the digital tools people use to find information, watch videos, navigate, communicate and run apps, and then earns money from ads and cloud services around those tools.

## What Meta Platforms (META) does

Meta builds and runs social and messaging apps, mainly Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and Messenger.
Most of its revenue comes from advertising shown inside these apps, where businesses pay to reach specific groups of users.
Meta also invests in virtual and mixed reality through its Reality Labs division, making devices like Quest headsets and related software.
So, Meta is essentially a social and communication company that monetizes attention and engagement through ads, while trying to build the next generation of digital experiences in VR and AR.
